THE KAUA'I JOURNALS: Week 1
WHEW. What a week! Really what a month.
In the past four weeks, I’ve slept in 5 different places - Austin, Portland, Eugene and two spots in Kaua’i.
But it’s all worth it because now I LIVE IN KAUA’I!
Some highlights from my first week include:
Two double rainbows - did you know a double rainbow is a sign of good fortune?
Snorkeling with green sea turtles
Sunbathing at Hanalei Bay
Watching sea turtles and a monk seal nap on the beach
Meeting a new friend on a Sunday night at a South Pacific bar over a glass of wine
Hiring an author coach to start coaching me in writing my first book
Three episodes of eerie synchronicity in one day
Shave ice with Nutella
I’ve stopped wearing underwear, socks, bras and eye makeup
One of the most noticeable changes after just one week of living on the island is my lack of stress. Now, don’t get me wrong, I have some emotional stress - missing the old and creating the new. Culture shock. Feeling out of place. Starting over.
But I don’t have stress in my body. It’s vanished. Gone. Poof.
I’m sleeping better than ever. I’m relaxed in my body. Life is slower but still highly effective. I realize I’ve had an erroneous belief that to be productive I must experience stress. NOT TRUE.
Living with low stress is making me MORE productive, more CREATIVE and most importantly, more CONTENT.
Sources of stress include traffic, noise, pollution, high-speed of movement, densely populated areas, lack of nature, and temperature extremes - basically CITIES.
Kaua’i is actually quite rural. It’s like living in a small town as the population hovers between 70,000-90,000 on the island at any given time over 552 square miles. It’s the best of country living meets beach and mountain living.
My heart is open and available for love. My body feels great. My soul is home.
