How Jessica Found Health & Strength
When Jessica applied to work with us her goal wasn’t just to lose some weight. She wanted to be her healthiest self heading into a big surgery.
Elective double mastectomy for carrying the BRCA gene.
Having any kind of surgery is scary for all of us but removing our breasts can be especially traumatic for women. Yet Jessica approached the whole situation with courage, calm and fun! (Make no mistake, she is one fun lady!)
Our focus with Jessica was losing some extra fat (but not too much since the surgeons were going to use some of her belly fat to help reconstruct her breasts) and preparing her body for surgery. Her surgeon sent us some dietary guidelines for her to follow and we integrated those recommendations into the nutrition protocol we know works for all women’s bodies.
We upped her protein and focused on flooding her body with lots of nutrient rich foods full of vitamins and minerals to prepare her body to repair tissue well post-surgery and reduce inflammation.
Jessica navigated a busy work schedule, international travel, holidays including Memorial Weekend and Fourth of July, not to mention the stress of impending surgery to achieve her goals.
Her photos speak for themselves! She’s shed fat while gaining strength but more importantly she’s learned how good her body feels when she’s eating well. More than once she remarked how even just a bite of a food like enchiladas could give her a stomachache now since her body was so used to wholesome food!
